Speed Drills to Get Faster For Football

Have you ever wanted to be the fastest one on the football field? Well I'm sure we all have at some point. There are different types of speeds when talking football, so it is important to do a wide array of football speed drills. I want to give you few tips that will help you increase your speed and improve your performance on the field. Then I will show you a few exercises to get you started.
As I mentioned above there are different type of speeds in football, you have to be consistent with straight ahead and lateral speed training. To be a great football player you have to have the ability to move in any direction with a split second notice. Just because you fast runner on the track team, doesn't mean you will have the same status on the football field. There are many other factors that come into play, like length of endurance and cardio ability. Football speed drills will master all these concepts and help you in other areas of performances.
You should adjust your football speed drills program to your specific need, take into consideration your position and what your expectations are for yourself. There are many ways to adapt a program to fulfill your needs, and it is vital that you combine different techniques into your workout.
Now it's time to start your football speed drills, below you will find a few examples.
Football Speed Training
Lunges Do three sets of 20 reps on each leg. Be sure to bend your knee in a steady controlled movement, getting as low as possible. You will see great results and notice the difference in your leg power.
Short Sprints Identify 3 stopping points in a straight line, approximately 20 yards apart from each other. Start sprinting towards the first point, come back to your starting point and go to your next point, continue this process approximately 10 sets.
Long Sprints You will do the same as above but make your distance between points approximately 50 yards apart from each other. This will push you a little further but will see great cardio results.
This should get you started on football speed training, if you keep it up you will see great results on and off the field. These are simple drills you can do just about anywhere, so good luck with achieving a higher level of fitness out at your next game.
