NFL 2012

Another NFL football season is on its way and what a great way to start off the season. The Packers and the Saints delivered a great game yesterday night by show boating two of the top offenses this season. The QB play of both teams showed why they are called elite. I predict that they will be somewhere in the end.
This weekend does not let up. There are the Steelers and the Ravens which is an intense rivalry in itself. The Jets and the Cowboys will square off as both Ryan coaches will be on opposite sides of the football field. Its always a special opening weekend for the NFL. People will drive to the stadium, tail gate and have a party cheering on their teams. Everyone will wear their teams jerseys and colors and root for the home team expecting greatness. Opening weekend is for every fan's hopes of having their team represented in the Super Bowl. I am biased with my prediction for the upcoming season like all Steelers fans. I believe that the Steelers will be fine this season. I believe that they will be there in the end as well. Other teams to watch are the Patriots, Eagles, Chargers, Falcons, as well as the teams I mentioned above. Some teams that might surprise are the Bears, Texans, Buccaneers, and maybe the Lions. It is a long season and some might bow out and some might be kicking the door down to the playoffs and to the chance of winning the Super Bowl.
Some of the questions this season are who will be the most valuable player in the league and who will help their team reach the pinnacle of winning the Super Bowl. Some of these players that have a very good chance of winning are Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Ben Rothlisburger, Philip Rivers, Joe Flacco, or possibly Matt Ryan. Obviously, these are quarterbacks with outstanding teams, but without an array of great players on the team, no matter what the quarterback does, it is a hard road to having success in the playoffs. All playoff teams to advance to the Super Bowl have shown that they are a complete team with very special players, especially at the quarterback position. Having a great defense obviously helps.
So, who will it be this year? Which team will hoist the Lombardi Trophy? My biased prediction are the Steelers. So, let the season begin with your favorite team's success.

Getting a Sports Scholarship From an American School

If you are a sports player from another country and you would like to attend a college in the US, you can use scholarships as a way to pay for college. At the very least, a sports scholarship can pay part of the money a US college or university would cost. However, what you need to understand is that applying for a scholarship is the easy part. Getting the scholarship is the real challenge.
The process for applying for a sports scholarship is pretty straightforward. You need to first compile a list of colleges and/or universities that you would like to attend. Make sure that the list has around 20 or more different schools.
Next, you need to have a contact person, and in most cases that will be a coach of the sport you are interested in getting a scholarship for. You also will need to provide them with your statistics as well as a film of you performing on the field or on court or whatever applies to the sport you participate in.
You also need to have the grades to qualify for a scholarship. This is one area that you must not fall short. Since you are asking for a scholarship rather than a coach or recruiter offering you a sports scholarship, you have to make sure that you have all your T's crossed and your I's dotted. Make sure you understand the academic requirements for receiving a scholarship and be sure that you meet those requirements before you even consider applying.
Lastly, you need to understand that getting a sports scholarship to an American college is not an easy thing to do. You will be competing with thousands of other athletes. If you are from another country, you may have a lot to offer a college in America with your aptitude in your given sport, but with the glut of athletes worldwide, unless your skills are beyond anything anyone has ever witnessed, it is likely you'll have to introduce yourself to your college rather than the college discovering you.
While you may think that being a good athlete is enough to get you a sports scholarship, that may not be enough. You may be have to be proactive off the field as well as on the field. In any case, getting a scholarship may be a long process but it is not an impossible task. You just have to know how to go about it.

NFL Preseason 2011 News - Free Agents and Trades!

Football fans of the world are so happy that the treacherous NFL lockout is now over and free agency trading has now started for the NFL. One of the most watched sports of the world football just went through one of the biggest lockouts in the history of all sports. Thank the Lord that this lockout is now over and that the NFL owners and the NFL players Association (NFLPA) have come to a simple conclusion that makes everybody happy. With the lockout ended all of the fans, players, coaches, and owners are all excited for the new season.
With the lockout over there have been many deals done in the past week two. This including the free-agent market and trading deals. Some of these deals have been big-time deals and some are just smaller deals that no one really cares about. So the sport report really focuses on the big deals made.
First off the New England Patriots made some very big deals this off-season so far. The first big deal that the patriots made was acquiring Albert Haynesworth from the Washington Redskins in a big trading deal with them. The second big deal the patriots made was acquiring Chad Ochocinco from the Cincinnati Bengals in this was also a trading deal. The patriots are hoping that these two players will provide a spark for their offense this upcoming season. With the loss of Randy Moss retiring they need a spark on offense to fill the hole of missing a stud receiver. The New England Patriots are one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl.
Another favorite to win the Super Bowl the Philadelphia Eagles also made some very big deals this off-season. The Eagles made many shrewd deals this off-season so far they have traded many players and got many players in many professionals think that these deals have helped the team improve by a long shot. Some key players the Eagles have contracted running back Ronnie Brown, safety Jarrad Page and right tackle Ryan Harris. These players are supposedly going to make a huge difference in the upcoming season for the Philadelphia Eagles football team.
Not many other deals have been going on in the NFL recently although the lockout has just ended a few days ago and I am sure that other teams will meet deals.
These deals have made these two powerhouses in the NFL even better teams but I and excited to see what will happen next where other teams make big deals may be even bigger deals that these two teams and have made already.
I am looking forward to a good long season of NFL football and I hope you are too. I'm convinced that this is going to be one of the best football years in a while.

Football Betting Tips - Money Management

The search for profit does not end once you have found the best football betting tips. There is still a lot to be done to ensure consistent profit. Money management is just as important as using the right football betting tips.
However in the rush to get their money on, most people overlook this important aspect of football betting. So what is money management? Let's look at it in simple terms: You are betting on two football matches. You know that one will produce a profit 80% of the time and the other has a 50-50 chance of winning. You would want to put more money on the match with an 80% chance of profit wouldn't you? That is money management.
It is basically managing your money to cope with risk. So logic says that on the risky bets, you should risk less money and on the bets that are stronger, you need to stake more money. This may seem like common sense to you, but it is often overlooked.
Now the next question is: How do we calculate how much to put on a team? The most common method is to use the same amount (level stake) on each selection. While this can work in the long run, in the short term you have to watch out for long sequences of losers from the bigger priced football tips. Four or five losers in a row can quickly deplete your bank. Therefore it may be better to look for a different approach.
Another approach suggested by many is the Kelly Criterion. However, Kelly requires you to know the probability of a win. The bet size is then determined by first converting the price on offer into a probability. You then have to estimate the probability of your bet winning. The difference between the sports book's price probability and your probability has to be positive. If it is negative, you should drop this football tip like a ton of bricks and move on to the next match. The size of the bet is then calculated using this difference in probability. A larger difference would suggest a larger investment and a small difference would suggest a small investment.
Now as you can imagine, the average person can't estimate the probability of his football prediction winning. So this method is of little use to him. Yes, the mathematicians' and professionals rave about this formula, and don't get me wrong, it is great in theory - but it fails in practice. If fails for at least for 90% of the people who try to use it, and I'm guessing that's you and me included.
Instead I prefer to use the average price available. Sports Books have studied the matches in depth and it's not often that they get the prices wrong. So why not use this to our advantage? This makes our foes greatest strength their weakness. Yes, I know that upsets happen, but if you look at sports book prices over a long period, you will find that if they quote a result at even money, that result will occur very close to 50% of the time.
So by using this as the true probability of the result we can accurately calculate how much to invest on each football tip.

South Florida Football Helmets - A History

Even though the University of South Florida is a large, public university with almost 50,000 students, it did not have a football team until 1997. It started its team in 1997 in Division 1-AA (now called Football Championship Subdivision) and moved up to Division 1-A (now called Football Bowl Subdivision) in 2001. Amazingly in this short time of playing football, the program has been ranked as high as Number 2 in the nation, been granted in an Automatic Qualifier conference (the Big East), played in various bowls, and beaten Notre Dame.
The football helmet was originally gold with a green facemask. It had a bull head coming out of a green square. The bottom of the bull head had a black shadow and you see its eyes; however, its main focus was the horns coming out, the mouth and snout. Frankly, it looked like something you might see in the USFL, Arena League Football or NFL-Europe. It was not your prototypical NCAA football helmet which often, but not always, have some lettering or design features highlighted the school name and not just the mascot. The logo morphed into the current U logo which is shaped like the head of a bull. This logo has been in use since 2003. The U is not connected at the top of the bull's head. It starts on one horn, runs down the bull's head on one side, across its snout, up the other side of the bull's head and out the other horn. The original U was light-to-medium green with a black outline coming after allowing a space of the gold background around the bull's head. This was switched in 2005 to a black U, and was subsequently switched back to a dark green. USF experimented with a white background and green U and green vertical stripe at the end of 2008 in the St. Petersburg Bowl game and later used it selectively in 2009 and most of 2010. Once in 2010, it went back to the gold helmet.
With the start of 2011, the USF Bulls have three helmet options. All three helmets have the familiar U logo. The options include a dark green helmet with a gold U outlined in white, a gold helmet with a dark green U outlined in white, and a white helmet with dark green and gold stripes plus a dark green U outlined in gold. All three of these football helmets have the familiar dark green facemask. The dark green helmet will go down in history as the one used by USF when they defeated Notre Dame on September 3, 2011. The U logo has been in use since 2003 and other than a slight downsizing of it in 2005, has been identical since then. The trend of many football helmets, and South Florida is no different, is to have more than 1 style of helmet, and to occasionally to use different ones for special occasions like a bowl game. It will be interesting to see what the South Florida football helmet will look like in the future.
